Bio
"The power of myth and art is this magical ability to open doors, to make connections -- not only between us and the natural world, but between us and the rest of humanity. Myths show us what we have in common with every other human being, no matter what culture we come from, no matter what century we live in. . . . and at the same time, mythic stories and art celebrate our essential differences." --Alan Lee

"O joy! that in our embers is something that doth live, that nature yet remembers what was so fugitive!" --Wordsworth

Awn ni o ma i le uchel,
Draw i ffridd yr adar ffraeth;
Rhown ein dwylo ar hen delyn,
Efo clustiau llym rhwng y trum a'r traeth;
Wnawn ni ddisgwyl,
Disgwyl am y swn.
***
We will go from here to a high place,
Over to the field of the glad birds;
We will place our hands on an old harp,
With sharp ears between the ridge and the beach;
We will await,
Await the sound.

--Bob Delyn a'r Ebillion

There is a music or flow to life that is undeniable. It pulses, enlivens, and inspires the constant processes of existance, as "being" passes through life, death, and rebirth.

My wish is to follow the Flow, where-ever it leads me, as flowing means living, and life means spirit.

It is this hiraeth or soul-longing that my entire lifepath seems to revolve around, and so no matter what I do now or in twenty years from now, I don't care--as long as it is something instigated and led by spirit.

I am american by birth, but in a culture that lacks culture (outside the media industry and materialistic mayhem), my ancestors have become focus for me. I want to become a good ancestor myself one day, and thus it is my responsibility and posterity benefit, to seek out a lifestyle most benefiting towards breaking up the old blocks and stagnancies, engaging fully and deeply in the energies and patterns of life around me, while plowing the way so to speak for the seedlings of growth and change .. the future. My ancestors were mainly of Celtic, Norse, and Cherokee strains. I can't help being drawn to their history, culture, languages, and philosophies. When I lived in the US, I was right in NC, home to the Cherokees. Thankfully I was able to explore and work with those ancestral energies, but now my education and interests have worked in tune with my hiraeth, and thus here I am in Wales, studying the welsh language at Bangor University. This is where my hiraeth has led me. For now.

Why study welsh? I've had many people ask me that, even in Wales. Well, the simple answer is that I feel drawn to it, that the language and culture (of not only Wales, but all Celtic branches) touches me deep inside. The thought of being able to engage with that every single day of my life fills me with pure joy! I know it is an unusual interest, but this is all part of who I am.

Since the ancestors are so prominant to how I live, naturally I gravitate to older religions and worldviews. Some might call me 'pagan'--and if any form of pagan, then a 'druidess'--but those are just labels to me. I am what I am, living out some sort of mytho-poetic, tribal, animistic, shamanistic oriented life ... which is quite a challange in our modern world! It is a challange of confrontation and integration. Adaptation.

Overall, I think of myself as just one more person seeking to be happy and to live life to the fullest. Isn't that what we're supposed to do anyway? I wish to be myself and die without regrets, leaving behind a legacy of hope and renewal.

Hope and renewal are themes in my life. Maybe if you get to know me better, you'll understand how and why.

These themes, and the other composite things I've mentioned above, get worked into one thing--my writing. I would not say I'm a good poet or story-teller, but I don't write for the product, but for the pleasure of the act itself. Poetry is a process, a way to explore and understand my soul and experiences. Creativity or inspiration/imagination are like the meat and flesh of my spirit, :) ... the seer-bardic processes speak to me, and if there is one word I identify with most in the druid tradition, it would be "awenyddion".
